A newly expanded automotive parts shop in Halifax’s North End is helping professional auto technicians and do-it-yourself car owners keep their vehicles in top shape.
On Sept. 17, PartSource will celebrate the grand opening of its new store on 3447 Kempt Road. Having outgrown its location on Strawberry Hill, PartSource’s new outlet will be bigger and better, offering a larger inventory and a more accessible shopping experience for customers.
“Our new location, which opened in late August, will be much more spacious, and we’ll be doubling our inventory with more than 3,500 new auto parts available for purchase,” says Dan Cropley, Corporate Store Manager at PartSource. “It will also be more inviting to customers with a lot more stock available on the retail floor.”
For 26 years, PartSource has played an integral role in supplying Halifax with top-quality auto parts at an affordable price. Since moving to Nova Scotia in 2008 by purchasing three Ferguson’s Auto Parts stores in Halifax, Dartmouth and Lower Sackville, the retail chain has offered a massive selection of brand-name parts and accessories to commercial installers – including local garages – and automotive enthusiasts.
With more staff on hand, the business will be able to meet the ever-growing demand for its products. Cropley has been with Canadian Tire for 25 years and with PartSource, which is part of Canadian Tire Corporation, for the past seven years. He is excited about the new expansion and says that the store will be better equipped to serve its customers.
With convenient shopping hours, including evenings and weekends, as well as reserve-online pick-up-in-store capabilities, the store will continue to provide a quick, in-and-out experience for busy customers as well as highly competitive pricing. Its price-match guarantee is a major selling point for customers, says Cropley.
“Our commercial business is so successful because of our competitive pricing,” says Cropley. “With our expertise and our pricing, we provide an unbeatable service.”
The new store will also be a boon to local businesses, as PartSource will introduce more delivery vehicles for their commercial customers. Over the years, the company has established itself as a go-to for local businesses and garages because of its bulk discounts, seasonal stock-up opportunities and rebate rewards.
We service a lot of the privately-owned garages in the area,” says Cropley. “They order parts online from us, and we deliver them quickly.”
PartSource provides customers with quality recognized brands and offers a dedicated Parts Pros team, unbeatable prices and a robust parts and labour warranty for its products.
In 2020, PartSource launched the PRO-SERIES brand of brake pads and rotors, which recently expanded to include filters, oil, batteries and hub assemblies. Their complete line-up of PRO-SERIES parts meets or exceeds original equipment (OE) specifications for brakes, steering and suspension and more.
The various PRO-SERIES offerings appeal to the needs of every type of do-it-yourselfer – OE offers original equipment quality guaranteed, OE+ offers premium performance and reliability, and XD is for those who demand the toughest parts built for extreme conditions.
Customer satisfaction is the name of the game with PartSource’s in-store services such as free battery testing, wiper blade installation and loan a tool program. If a hard-to-find specialty item is needed in a pinch, PartSource’s Parts Pros are experts at sourcing products. They have access to third-party vendors across the province and country and will do their best to locate the part.
“We’ll go the extra mile, that’s for sure,” says Cropley. “We’ve even sourced parts that are only available through dealerships for our customers.”
The desire to help doesn’t just stop with customers. Since 2005, PartSource, along with its generous customers, has been raising funds through Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities to ensure that kids in need have equal access to organized sports and physical activity. Funds raised in Halifax stay within the community, helping children in the city access sport and play.
With a new store and an ever-growing presence in Halifax, PartSource is proving that great service and a large selection go a long way on the road to success.
Car care tips for keeping your vehicle moving smoothly
It is important to keep your vehicle regularly maintained and up-to-date with repairs to avoid unwanted issues. Regular maintenance can help prevent unexpected breakdowns and accidents. Maintaining your vehicle also helps keep you and others safe while you’re on the road. By taking care of your car regularly, you can prevent more costly and serious issues from arising.
While this can be a daunting and time-consuming task, PartSource is here to help by providing in-store services including windshield wiper installs, washer fluid top-up, key cutting, and check engine light testing. They even have an automotive look-up centre to help with locating repair instructions for your specific make and model of vehicle.
Many vehicles currently function using electronic systems that depend on a strong battery. Extreme heat and cold can affect a battery’s performance and cause it to degrade faster. PartSource is available to test your battery for free, ensuring that you won’t get stuck on the side of the road because of a dead battery.
With more than 60 specialized tools available, PartSource also offers a ‘loan-a-tool’ program, so that you don’t have to purchase a tool that you may not use very often. The store has just the tool you need to get your automotive job done correctly. As selection varies by store, it is best to call ahead to check availability.
There is also a team of dedicated Parts Pros at PartSource who are highly trained, knowledgeable and always willing to offer their expertise and knowledge. PartSource staff have a working technical knowledge of vehicles and how to find uncommon parts so that they can assist their customers with solving their car repair problems.
